New Years Goal: Be more on top of regularly posting blogs!
Ok, so now that that is out of the way, happy new year everyone! I hope you are feeling refreshed and recharged. I had the opportunity to take some amazing workshops in the fall that I would love to share with you! I really wanted to embrace being in London and take advantage of all the fun things the city has to offer.
First up is Quill London's "Modern Calligraphy" workshops. I had the opportunity to take both the beginning and intermediate classes on the same day. These workshops are so much fun! I have wanted to try my hand at calligraphy and as you have probably noticed, calligraphy is taking the social media and stationary world by storm!
Some of the many things I enjoyed about the classes were the delicious treats provided (food makes me VERY happy), the fact that the price of the workshop included ALL materials needed to continue on practicing calligraphy at home, and the location of the workshop. The workshops were held in Islington, just a short walk from the Angel tube station at a very nice pub called The Blacksmith and The Toffeemaker. There is a lot around this area so if you wanted to grab a quick coffee on the way or get snack afterwards you have plenty of options.
Everyone at the workshop was so kind and friendly. Our instructor was Imogen Owen. Imogen is a very established calligrapher who runs her own letterpress studio! She is fantastic. I suggest checking out her Instagram and website (link below). Imogen is a great teacher and so much fun. I also had the chance to talk to everyone at my table and met some wonderful people. Being new to London the workshop was a great way to get out and socialize!
Overall these workshops were amazing. I would suggest starting with the "Beginners Modern Calligraphy" one weekend and then advancing to the intermediate on the following weekend if you can. My hand was quite sore after doing both workshops in one day (that's almost five hours of calligraphy)! It will also give you the chance to practice.
Check out Quill London's website for dates and prices. They also offer a couple of different courses such as brush lettering and paper flower making.
Let me know if you have any questions about the workshops (or anything else you can think up)!
